MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Fred’s Pharmacy announced Monday that it would be kicking off its 14th annual Hero Hats program, which raises money for emergency responders and, for the first time this year, military organizations. The program will run through Sept. 12, allowing customers to purchase hero hats.
Customers who donate toward the Hero Hats program — which was begun in 2002 to commemorate first responders and law enforcement lost on Sept. 11, 2001 — will receive discounts on products sold at Fred’s Pharmacy locations. A $1 donation will get a customer a $1 coupon for Clorox Bleach, $5 donations get customers a $2 coupon for Clorox Back-to-School wipes and those who donate $10 will receive a $3 coupon for Kingsford Charcoal.
“By giving back to the men and women that serve our local communities every day, we are embracing one of Fred’s core values," Fred’s VP advertising Tracy Herr said. “We're proud to honor and support military organizations for the first time through this program as well.”
Additionally, the company will donate a portion of its operating profits on Sept. 11 to local first responder and military organizations in the communities it serves.
