Free shipping a new incentive for Target loyalty program

MINNEAPOLIS — Target shoppers have a new incentive for joining the retailer's REDcard Rewards loyalty program: free shipping on Target.com.

What's more, Target debit cards now can be used on Target.com, the company said.

“REDcard free shipping provides great value for our guests today and every day and it’s easy to understand — no minimum purchase requirement, no membership fee and available nationwide,” Target EVP merchandising Kathee Tesija said. “With the holiday season right around the corner, this new benefit makes it even more convenient for our guests to shop Target for great gifts and enjoy our great prices.”

Target’s REDcard Rewards loyalty program applies to the Target REDcards, including the Target credit card, Target Visa credit card and Target debit card.

Time will tell if the offer of free shipping may be enough to undo some of the damage caused by Target.com's relaunch, which was slammed by critics.
