Getting down, dirty with new cleaning products

5/30/2012

NEW YORK — A new line of cleaning products named after a Discovery Channel show has hit the market.

Named after "Dirty Jobs," My Dirty Jobs cleaning products include items designed for laundry, kitchen, carpet and bathroom use. Each product features a heavy-duty, oxygen powered stain remover called Dirty Jobs Complete, which is produced with an original formula featuring an increased concentration of oxygen-powered enzymes, making it one of the most advanced stain removers on the market, the company said.

Later this year, the line, which debuted at Walmart and online in March, will include a bleach-powered bathroom cleaner, an oxygen-powered foaming cleanser, a carpet spray aerosol, a multisurface cleaner, a laundry spot-remover and a degreaser and hand sanitizer. The line also will expand to additional major retail locations and specialty stores nationwide.

As part of the launch, "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe" host Mike Rowe, along with Niecy Nash, the host of Style Network's "Clean House" and star of TLC's "Leave It to Niecy," are appearing in direct-response cable ads. (You can check out outtakes of the commercials here.)

"Thanks to 'Dirty Jobs,' I've left a filthy trail through all 50 states and along the way I've met some of the best people I know, including farmers, miners and tradesmen, people who aren’t afraid to get dirty and who make civilized life possible for the rest of us," Rowe said. "Celebrating their work and making it easier to clean up at the end of the day was a great motivation to support and launch this line of cleaning products. The fact that they really work and are affordable made the decision a no-brainer."
