Giant Eagle to debut Market District in Ohio market

COLUMBUS, Ohio Giant Eagle is in plans to bring its Market District grocery concept to Ohio with a new store, The Columbus Dispatch reported Wednesday.

According to the report, the Upper Arlington City Council is expected to vote Monday on a Kingsdale Shopping Center redevelopment plan that calls for a new Giant Eagle store and two new office buildings.

If the City Council approves the redevelopment plan and an accompanying development agreement, construction on the new Giant Eagle could start in early August.

Market District stores are more of an upscale, gourmet grocery concept, featuring cooking demonstrations, live music, holiday-themed events, a farmers' market and other programming.
