Harris Teeter presents $3,000 in lottery incentive checks to local schools

5/28/2013

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Harris Teeter store manager Bruce Woodle on Friday presented $3,000 to local schools to support their commitment to educational programs. The check presentation was made possible by the North Carolina Education Lottery. Brooks Museums Magnet Elementary School PTA, Millbrook High School and St. David’s School each received $1,000.

Harris Teeter has donated $19,000 in North Carolina Education Lottery incentive payments to schools since establishing the incentive donation program in December 2011. The North Carolina Education Lottery offers incentive payments to retailers for selling winning tickets for the Carolina Cash 5 jackpot, and Harris Teeter donates incentive payments more than $1,000 back to Together in Education schools.

“We wouldn’t be so successful raising money for education without the help of great retail partners like Harris Teeter,” said Alice Garland, executive director of the N.C. Education Lottery. “We applaud Harris Teeter for sharing its incentive payment with these three Wake County schools. Every dollar we can raise with the lottery and every dollar Harris Teeter contributes through its Together in Education program can make a difference for students in our state.”
