WASHINGTON — According to reports, House Republicans filed a lawsuit Friday charging the Obama administration with overreaching in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
The lawsuit focuses on two claims, that the administration made illegal payments to insurance companies and that the administration unlawfully waived the employer mandate and insurance penalties associated with the legislation.
The move raises political tension the day after the president said he would act without Congress on immigration, t
he Wall Street Journal noted in its report. The
WSJ noted that the lawsuit was timed to be filed earlier in the year, however two law firms declined to take the case before attorney Jonathan Turley took the case.
