Hy-Vee gets celebrity plug on 'The Tonight Show'

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa According to some people’s logic, working at some retail chains might be a ticket to Hollywood.

Hy-Vee got a celebrity plug recently when actor Ashton Kutcher and former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno. Hy-Vee posted a YouTube video of the broadcast on its Web site.

Leno pointed out a “rumor” that Kutcher and Warner had both worked at the same supermarket bagging groceries. Kutcher corrected him, mentioning that they had worked at the same chain, Kutcher in the deli at the Coralville, Iowa, Hy-Vee and Warner as a “night stock guy” at the store in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

“This supermarket, I tell you, they just produce superstars,” Kutcher said.
