Jean Coutu Group provides diabetes kit; introduces Living Well contest
LONGUEUIL, Quebec The Jean Coutu Group Thursday introduced its annual Diabetes Kit, which has been prepared in cooperation with Diabetes Quebec, a nonprofit advocacy group, for the past five years.
To help promote the kits, the Canadian retailer has kicked off its “Living Well with Diabetes” contest—consumers who register with either Diabetes Quebec or the Canadian Diabetes Association will be entered into a getaway sweepstakes—with a grand prize of either a $4,000 Canadian gift certificate toward a sun-destination vacation package or a $1,000 Canadian gift certificate redeemable at any Hotellerie Champetre, a network of 26 resorts and country inns located throughout Quebec.
The Diabetes Kit includes information on diabetes, a nutritional guide, two blood glucose level monitoring notebooks (including one for people using insulin) and samples of new products
“Following a report released in 2007 by the Canadian Institute for Health Information, the number of newly diagnosed patients with diabetes increased by 114 percent over 10 years. At Jean Coutu, we believe that it is important to inform and sensitize the people with this disease so they can manage and control it in a proactive way,” stated Richard Mayrand, vice president of pharmacy and government affairs at Jean Coutu.
The kit is distributed free of charge in all PJC Jean Coutu stores of Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick.
