Kerr raising funds for wounded troops

9/12/2008

RALEIGH, N.C. Kerr Drug today launched a chainwide effort to raise money for U.S. servicemen and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The chain launched the fundraising campaign at its North Hills Mall store Friday, in its home market, with North Carolina’s Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue and several wounded service members in attendance. At the kickoff, Kerr released balloons to honor more than 12,000 North Carolina-based military personnel injured so far in the two conflicts, according to a report in the Ralleigh News & Obersver.

The money will be administered by the American Legion and the North Carolina Heroes Fund.
