CINCINNATI — Kroger on Monday announced it has made the Dow Jones Sustainability Index-North America for the second time. The company's inaugural listing was last year.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index-North America tracks the economic, environmental and social sustainability performance of the top 20% of the 600 largest North America-based companies in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index.

"We strive to make the world a better place through our sustainability leadership," stated Rodney McMullen, Kroger's CEO. "We believe we have a responsibility to be good stewards of the environment, the economy and our communities, and so we have challenged all parts of our business to make improvements today that will protect tomorrow. Kroger's inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index is a sign that we are making real progress."
