Lane to become chairman of university’s board of trustees
PITTSBURGH Raymond Lane, a managing partner of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, will succeed Giant Eagle president and CEO David Shapira as chairman of Carnegie Mellon University’s board of trustees, effective July 1. Lane also will serve as chairman of the board’s executive committee.
Shapira had served as chairman of the board and its executive committee since 2003. A life trustee of the university, Shapira will remain a member of the board’s executive and compensation committees. He was elected to the board in 1983.
“I thank [Shapira] for his vision, leadership and inspiration. He’s been an outstanding chairman of the board,” stated Carnegie Mellon president Jared Cohon.
