Longs to open two clinics in Hawaii stores

12/7/2007

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. Longs Drug Stores has announced plans to open in Hawaii two in-store health clinics by the end of calendar 2007 through an agreement with Access Medical Clinics.

Access Medical Clinics is an independent operator separate from Longs. The walk-in clinics, to be located in the Mililani Town Center and Ewa Beach, will be staffed by physicians with oversight covering physician assistances and nurse practitioners.

According to Bob Ingersoll, group vice president of Hawaii store operations for Longs, the pharmacy retailer uses a multiple operator model when looking to open in-store health clinics. It has similar partnerships with independent clinics in four stores on the Mainland, as well as nine Quest Diagnostic Labs.

“We are always looking for new ways to promote healthy lifestyles and enhance the convenience we offer our customers,” Ingersoll stated.
