Mac Naughton shifts to Walmart Canada
MINNEAPOLIS Duncan Mac Naughton on Monday resigned from Supervalu to pursue an opportunity with Walmart Canada as chief merchandising officer, Drug Store News has confirmed with Walmart Canada.
Mac Naughton starts with Walmart Canada Oct. 13 and will be reporting directly to David Cheesewright, CEO.
Mac Naughton, 47, departed Supervalu as EVP merchandising and marketing. “Duncan has been an integral part of our management team and has helped us lay the foundation for our company’s future success,” said Craig Herkert, Supervalu president and CEO. “We wish him well as he pursues his career interests and ambitions.”
Supervalu is currently reviewing internal and external candidates to lead the company’s merchandising and marketing teams, build upon the organization’s existing strengths and execute its business plans. To ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities, the merchandising and marketing functions will report to Herkert on an interim basis. “We have powerful merchandising and marketing teams that give us the ability to leverage national scale, while serving local market preferences,” Herkert said. “I look forward to working directly with our team leaders.”
This is the third Supervalu executive to depart the grocer in the past year. Two other top Supervalu executives, Mike Jackson and Kevin Tripp, retired last summer.
