Marsh celebrates $2.5 million Indiana store remodel

2/27/2008

INDIANAPOLIS Marsh Supermarkets plans to hold a citywide celebration Thursday of its $2.5-million Lafayette, Ind. store-remodeling program.

Three Marsh stores in Lafayette will join in the festivities, the grocer announced.

“We are pleased today to celebrate, with our Lafayette Marsh customers, city officials and Purdue dignitaries, the remodeling of our Lafayette store locations,” stated Marsh chairman, chief executive officer and president Frank Lazaran. “This Lafayette remodeling program is part of Marsh’s continuous improvement effort based on customer research and market data to guarantee Marsh customers have a superlative shopping experience.”

Representatives from Purdue University, the Mayor’s office and The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce will take part in the ribbon cuttings this morning at both the Teal Road Store and the West Lafayette store. The West Lafayette store has a Purdue motif, complete with memorabilia, photos and sports items reflecting the pride of Purdue University. The stores on Teal Road and State Road 26, both stores with pharmacies, will also have Purdue pictures and memorabilia.

Marsh’s comprehensive Lafayette store strategy includes the introduction of its new format, Marsh Hometown Market. All three stores will convert to the Marsh Hometown Market Banner and be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“The three locations will offer significant improvements to the facilities with added emphasis on fresh produce, meat, and seafood, to provide the level of customer service our customers have come to expect from us,” Lazaran said. “Marsh Hometown Markets will provide a combination of Marsh quality perishables and cost-saving specials and will be easy to shop compared to larger mega-stores.”
