McKesson brings international experience to role of EVP corporate strategy and business development

2/17/2015

SAN FRANCISCO — McKesson on Tuesday announced that Bansi Nagji has been appointed EVP corporate strategy and business development. Starting this week, Nagji reports to chairman and CEO John Hammergren and he succeeds Brian Tyler, who has fully transitioned to a new position as president, North American Pharmaceutical Distribution and Services.

“Bansi brings strong international strategy experience to the McKesson executive team, along with deep innovation, leadership and marketing expertise,” Hammergren said. “Bansi will be a tremendous asset to the company as we leverage our new global presence on behalf of our customers and partners. He will provide a valuable and unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing healthcare as reform drives further transformation throughout the industry.”

Nagji comes to McKesson from Deloitte Consulting, where he led their U.S. and global strategy practice. Prior to Deloitte, Bansi was president of Monitor Group, a global management consulting firm that was acquired by Deloitte in 2013. He was instrumental in the integration of Monitor into Deloitte’s operations.

Nagji has more than 20 years of experience working with clients on enterprise-wide growth and innovation challenges in the life sciences and consumer sectors. At Deloitte, he strengthened the company’s global reach as the leader of its Global Strategy service line and co-chair of the Global Strategy Governance Committee. A noted expert on innovation, he has authored several articles and papers on the topic. Nagji has previously served on the board of directors of Deloitte and several other business and nonprofit boards.

Prior to joining Monitor, he worked as a solicitor in London with one of Europe’s largest law firms. He holds a BA and MA from Cambridge University, England, and an MBA with Distinction from INSEAD, France.

Tyler, McKesson’s former strategy chief, has fully transitioned to a new role that was created after McKesson’s acquisition of the global pharmaceutical distribution company, Celesio. Tyler, a longtime McKesson executive, is responsible for the company’s North American pharmaceutical distribution and related businesses, including McKesson U.S. Pharmaceutical, McKesson Canada, McKesson Specialty Health and McKesson Pharmacy Systems & Automation. Tyler reports to Paul Julian, EVP and group president.

“Brian is ideally suited to take on this newly established role, given his extensive experience with most of the businesses that fall under his new area of responsibility,” Hammergren said. “In conjunction with our Celesio leadership team, Brian will lead our efforts to maximize operational excellence and facilitate collaboration across our businesses to benefit our customers and business partners.”

An 18-year McKesson veteran, Tyler has served as president of McKesson U.S. Pharmaceutical, McKesson Medical-Surgical and McKesson Specialty Care Solutions.
