McKesson Corporate and McKesson Foundation give back $7.3 million to communities
SAN FRANCISCO — McKesson on Monday released its FY2014 Corporate Citizenship Report, an annual publication highlighting the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“Our employees come to work each day to serve our customers as they deliver better care for the patients they serve, and better business results so they can invest in the future,” said John Hammergren, chairman, president and CEO. “It is through their contributions and our ICARE shared principles – Integrity, Customer First, Accountability, Respect and Excellence – that corporate social responsibility comes to life at McKesson.”
The fiscal 2014 report highlights include:
In FY14, the McKesson Foundation invested approximately $4 million in cash giving to its communities, and McKesson Corp. contributed an additional $3.3 million;
Through its Wheels Fuel program, McKesson’s U.S. Pharmaceutical business unit reduced CO2 emissions from fleet vehicles by 4,821 metric tons – a 23.7% decrease over fiscal 2013;
McKesson was recognized as a Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles with a platinum award from the National Business Group on Health;
McKesson was recognized by the Human Rights Campaign with a perfect score of 100% on the 2014 Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality;
The McKesson Foundation made major donations to the company’s new Taking Care of Our Own Fund — an employee relief fund that provides grants to employees who are experiencing a financial hardship resulting from a sudden, severe, overwhelming and unexpected event — and to the Red Cross; and
McKesson employees helped create 16,400 care packages for cancer patients during workplace volunteer events for the McKesson Foundation’s Giving Comfort program.
