McKesson to showcase RxOwnership program at NCPA Annual meeting

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Dedicated to supporting the future of independent pharmacy ownership, McKesson’s RxOwnership team has partnered with the National Community Pharmacists Association to sponsor a series of educational ownership programs at the NCPA 2016 Annual Convention and Trade Exposition in New Orleans this Oct. 15–19, 2016.



“McKesson RxOwnership is excited to partner with NCPA to support the future of pharmacy ownership by giving students, recent graduates and experienced pharmacists the knowledge, support and tools required to achieve their ownership goals,” stated Chris Cella, national VP, McKesson RxOwnership. “Many pharmacists are interested in ownership because they want the ability to run the pharmacy their way and tailor its services to meet the needs of their customers and community. Ultimately, this gives them the ability to focus on quality patient care and personalized service.”



As part of the official NCPA Student education program on Saturday, Oct. 15, Cella will present “How to Open A Pharmacy.” This session will outline the advantages of owning and managing an independent pharmacy.



McKesson RxOwnership is also sponsoring the Future Pharmacists Luncheon that day, which will give nearly 400 NCPA student members the opportunity to connect with peers and experienced ownership advisors to learn more about pharmacy ownership.



McKesson is proud to sponsor the NCPA Pharmacy Ownership Workshop for the seventh year. Designed for current and future pharmacists considering pharmacy ownership or desiring additional management skills, the Pharmacy Ownership Workshop will provide pharmacists with tools to guide them in pharmacy ownership and enhance their current management skills. More than 50% of past Pharmacy Ownership Workshop participants currently own their own pharmacy.



McKesson’s RxOwnership program is dedicated to providing independent pharmacy owners, prospective owners and pharmacy students with resources and a dedicated team to map out their future. In the past year, RxOwnership has assisted 446 owners to start up a new pharmacy. Since 2007, the RxOwnership team has aided more than 3,400 pharmacies through the ownership-transfer process.
