MedPro Rx offering scholarships to students with bleeding disorders

RALEIGH, N.C. Prospective college students living with bleeding disorders have a chance to receive a scholarship from a specialty pharmacy that specializes in treating them.

MedPro Rx, which provides the IVIg clotting factor and other medications, announced the 2010 “Education is Power” scholarship program, available to U.S. resident students living with such disorders as hemophilia and von Willebrand disease. The pharmacy has distributed $207,000 nationwide since starting the program in 2006.

“With the proper education, a student will have plentiful job opportunities,” scholarship coordinator Kathy Robinette-Stoneberg said. “Normally, a person with a good job will have health insurance options that will allow them the freedom of access to health care and prescription benefits, which are much needed by persons with bleeding disorders.”
