OKEMOS, Mich. — Meijer on Monday held a ribbon cutting ceremony to open its newest health care clinic at its location here at 2055 W. Grand River Ave. The Sparrow FastCare clinic will offer walk-in services for minor injuries and common illnesses and is staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants from Sparrow Health System.

This will be Meijer’s fifth retail clinic, and its third in Michigan. The Sparrow FastCare clinic is also the first of several planned clinic openings for the retailer this year. Meijer said in April that it would also be opening a clinic in Waukesha, Wis. and Sussex, Wis. through a partnership with Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network. The April announcement also hinted that more than one clinic would emerge from Meijer’s partnership with Sparrow.

“Meijer is committed to expanding convenient access to health care providers,” Meijer health and wellness director Jacquelyn DeBruler said in April. “These partnerships give us an opportunity to connect local providers and patients, ultimately meeting people where they are.”
