Meijer is reaching Cyber Monday customers through digital promotion
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Midwestern retailer Meijer is shifting the focus this Cyber Monday to digital, announcing a 20% off coupon through its mPerks program and allowing its customers to go digital for the greatest savings.
“More than 30% of our current sales are digitally enabled, so many of our customers have sent a message that they are shifting from cyberspace to the digital space,” stated Peter Whitsett, EVP merchandising Meijer. “Our mPerks program has more than 3 million subscribers, and those customers have a great opportunity to save a lot of money inside our stores on what has traditionally been an online shopping day.”
The mPerks Monday promotion includes a 20% off coupon through mPerks that can be used on one electronics, apparel or general merchandise item. Meijer credit card customers, who have a 15% off reward coupon, can use it in addition to the mPerks Monday promotion for even more savings. This is the largest percentage off coupon ever offered through mPerks and the first time an mPerks promotion has been offered on a Monday. The coupon will be available for mPerks subscribers to clip Nov. 30 through Dec. 1 and will only be available for use on Dec. 1.
Meijer is focusing on more robust savings through mPerks in the absence of Meijer.com. Unlike 2013, Meijer does not have product offerings available through Meijer.com this holiday season. The site has been going through a transition period the last several months as the company prepares to relaunch its website to better complement the offerings inside its stores. The new Meijer.com will feature thousands of products that are available in stores, as well as a variety of tools to help make it easier for customers to take advantage of everything the stores have to offer while saving money.
“Our customers who used Meijer.com for online purchases have been very patient,” Whitsett said. “We’re excited about the changes coming online and we’ll be able to share more about our new Meijer.com offering in the coming weeks.”
