Menasha Packaging facility recognized for product safety

8/7/2014

NEENAH, WIS. — The British Retail Consortium Global Standard has once again certified Menasha Packaging’s Yukon Plant, located in Ruffs Dale, Pa., for Packaging and Packaging Materials, Menasha has announced.

In addition, the International Organization for Standardization has recommended unconditional approval for continued registration for the Yukon Plant.

For the second straight year, the Yukon Plant received an “A” grade certification from BRC, which is a global product safety and quality standardization program. ISO also verified the Yukon Plant’s ability to implement and maintain an effective Quality Management System after a recent surveillance audit. Yukon received ISO 9001:2008 recertification in 2013, which lasts for three years.

“Menasha Packaging strives to make our customers feel confident in the safety of the products that we are supplying; our BRC and ISO certifications help provide that assurance,” stated Deborah Long, quality manager for Menasha Packaging’s Western Pennsylvania complex. “Maintaining these certifications each year has elevated the daily cleanliness standards at our facility making our plant always prepared for inspection.”

The BRC Global Standards are widely used by suppliers and retailers worldwide since they aid in standardizing quality, product safety, operational criteria and manufacturers’ fulfillment of legal obligations. Its Packaging and Packaging Materials standard is also a Global Food Safety Initiative recognized scheme.

ISO is a developer of voluntary International Standards and aims to make industry more efficient and effective. ISO provides specifications for products and services, along with best practices.
