MinuteClinic receives third accreditation from Joint Commission
WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health has been re-accredited for the third consecutive time by the Joint Commission, with its latest evaluation marking 10 years since it became the first national provider of retail clinics to be accredited by the commission. MinuteClinic received the certifying agency’s Gold Seal of Approval to mark its compliance with the Joint Commission’s ambulatory health care and safety standards.
“Since 2006 we have participated in the rigorous accreditation process carried out by The Joint Commission to validate the high clinical quality and safety standards we strive to achieve at all MinuteClinic locations across the United States,” CVS Health EVP/associate chief medical officer and MinuteClinic president Andrew Sussman said. “With patient satisfaction ratings of 95 percent and clinical collaborations with more than 60 leading health systems throughout the country, we have demonstrated a consistent record of quality and coordination of care unsurpassed in the retail clinic industry.”
After the Joint Commission completed its survey process, it conducted on-site evaluations at several of MinuteClinic’s 1,050 locations nationwide. Clinics were evaluated on compliance in care coordination, infection prevention and control, patient education and medication management.
"We commend MinuteClinic for its efforts to become a quality improvement organization, and achieving this pinnacle demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and quality,” the Joint Commission’s ambulatory health care accreditation program executive director, Michael Kulczyck, said.
