MinuteClinic revenues up double digits in Q1

5/1/2015

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health’s MinuteClinic enjoyed double-digit gains in first quarter revenues as its telehealth pilot receives high marks, Larry Merlo, CVS Health president and CEO, told analysts during the company’s first quarter conference call on Friday.

During the quarter ended March 31, MinuteClinic revenues increased 21% compared with the year-ago period.

Third parties paid for 84% of MinuteClinic visits, with MinuteClinic included in most payor networks as an accessible and cost-effective provider.

The company opened 15 net new clinics and ended the quarter with 986 clinics across 31 states and Washington, D.C.

As for its telehealth pilot in California and Texas, the clinic operator has now seen more than 13,000 patients with “very high levels of customer satisfaction.”

“We believe [telehealth] can be part of a care model that improves access and lowers overall healthcare costs,” Merlo told analysts.
