Mobile apps from CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens among nominees of 18th Annual Webby Awards
NEW YORK — This year the 18th Annual Webby Awards, an international award honoring excellence on the Internet, featured applications for health and wellness mobile health apps, including CVS/pharmacy, Walgreens and GlaxoSmithKline.
According to a Reuters article, this marked the first year that health and fitness apps were given their own category.
"There is a lot of promise for health and fitness apps, and I think we are really just at the beginning of what we will see and how important some of these experiences will become in our daily lives," David-Michel Davies, executive director of the awards, was quoted as saying in a statement.
This year, 11 mobile health applications, including CVS/pharmacy, Zyrtec AllergyCast and GlaxoSmithKline’s Diabetes HealthMate, were chosen as honorees. Separately, top five nominees were also selected, including Walgreens’ mobile app. The winner will be announced on April 28.
