ARLINGTON, Va. – The National Association of Chain Drug Stores on Monday announced the promotion of 15-year NACDS veteran Vishal Bhatia to the position of VP information services/information services security officer, effective March 1. Previously, Bhatia served in this capacity at the director level.
“We refer to NACDS’ offices in Washington, D.C. not as a headquarters, but rather as an advocacy and support center for NACDS members nationwide," stated Steven Anderson, NACDS president and CEO. "Vishal’s expertise and dedication, and that of our information services team, prove absolutely essential in living up to that vision," he said. “To lead an information services team at this moment in time, one needs to stay focused on security and opportunity alike. Vishal does a tremendous job of that, seeking ways to apply technology creatively, efficiently and cost-effectively – while confronting security topics that face every organization and household around the world. Every day, Vishal makes NACDS better-capable of serving the membership, which is NACDS’ entire reason for being.”
Bhatia leads NACDS’ information services function, and reports to Dave Fitzsimmons, SVP finance and administration. Bhatia contributes to the vision, and directs the day-to-day operations, of NACDS’ information services assets in the areas of data, voice, network, desktop applications and system development. He is responsible for all issues involving information security.
Bhatia joined the NACDS staff team on a full-time basis in January 2001, in the function of software support, and earned positions of consistently increasing responsibility. Previously, he served in a part-time capacity at NACDS, and before that he was a system/network administrator at Information Concepts, a software development firm.
