4/19/2016

Rochester, N.Y.-based VoicePort is a provider of automated, customizable and integrated communications services aimed at helping pharmacies engage their patients to improve patient medication adherence. Some of its newer solutions include integrated immunization services to aid in boosting vaccination rates; medication synchronization tool SYNCHRO-SCRIPT; call center technology; and IVR support offered in a centralized, cloud-based solution. Drug Store News spoke to VoicePort’s VP business development Alphonse Sasso about the company’s offerings, how they can impact patients and its growing client base.

Drug Store News: What are some of the services that VoicePort offers?

Alphonse Sasso: Our company is focused on leveraging automation to support core pharmacy patient care solutions and profit objectives to deliver added quality and improved Star ratings. Our solutions are cloud-based, meaning very limited to no capital is required from our client base to address core patient communication and intervention services. We offer a full suite of patient care solutions that leverage our data integration, analytics and operational expertise to bring innovative approaches to our client base.

DSN: What are some of the ways VoicePort can help pharmacies improve adherence?

Sasso: Keeping patients’ adherent to the meds prescribed by their healthcare professional is key to allowing them to live happy, healthy and productive lives. Our medication synchronization solution works to help support the pharmacy team align the patient’s meds and keep them aligned to a convenient, once-a-month regimen. Having this automated approach in place to recommend an anchor med, offer short-fill calculations and get patients enrolled in the program offers pharmacies added time to meet with the patient to support other clinical interventions, such as MTM, immunizations, patient education and other important opportunities available in our platform.

DSN: What sort of feedback has the company received?

Sasso: Our clients’ operational needs and strategic objectives can vary greatly. They appreciate the patient-focused approach we have taken to support them and are having great success with each of the solutions we offer. Our No. 1 priority at VoicePort is to ensure that we are surpassing all of our client’s expectations and we pride ourselves on the valuable and trusting relationships we have built with each VoicePort client. Added ROI measures, increased quality and Star ratings, and improved patient loyalty are a few of the benefits our clients enjoy by collaborating with VoicePort.

DSN: Last year you partnered with Scientific Technologies Corp. to help state immunization registries report to pharmacy providers. What are some of your immunization services?

Sasso: In collaboration with STC, we offer a complete solution to assist pharmacists in providing this valuable population health service. Via the direct integration with STC, our platform has the capability to query the appropriate State Immunization Information Service (IIS), provide patient-specific immunization forecasting and automatically comply with state-specific reporting requirements. By leveraging our state-of-the-art, cloud-based communication technology, we can notify each eligible patient of their vaccination needs and capture their responses for action by the pharmacy team.

DSN: Last fall you announced a major partnership with a large chain in Canada. How is that partnership going?

Sasso: The Canadian market is similar to the [United] States, with stresses on reimbursements and added requirements within each province for pharmacists to take a more proactive role in patient health and wellness. Our automated adherence solutions are having a large impact on positive patient outcomes in Canada, and we fully expect to continue to have success as we launch new and innovative solutions north of the border.
