CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid has rolled out proximity beacons in more than 4,500 stores across the U.S., which, according to tech news website ZDNet, is the largest rollout of beacon technology ever in a retail setting.
Rite Aid has laid the groundwork for "smart stores" that can optimize the in-store experience for shoppers, with the deployment of 4,500+ beacons in every U.S. location.
Beacon-level proximity data enables retailers to use e-commerce tactics (like personalization and retargeting) in the offline store. Beacons provide the infrastructure for new "Ambient Intelligence" experiences like a seamless tie-in with loyalty points or a faster pharmacy experience.
The program is powered by inMarket, which brings an app user scale of over 42MM comScore-verified MAUs to the program. The proximity program will also be integrated with Rite Aid's own app.
