Retail pharmacy veteran Charboneau to join Cartwheel advisory board

9/4/2007

MORRISTOWN, N.J. Cartwheel LLC announced that veteran retailing executive Gary Charboneau has joined the company as the first member of the Cartwheel Advisory Board.

Formed in 2003 by Larry Aronson, a former president of Revlon sales and customer marketing, and John Wilson, formerly Pfizer’s director of marketing, Cartwheel specializes in creating or improving customer loyalty programs for retailers.

Most recently, Charboneau was senior vice president of marketing and merchandising for Duane Reade in New York, and, prior to that, executive vice president of marketing at CVS.

In 1999, Gary successfully launched the Duane Reade Dollar Rewards program, a breakthrough for the drug store industry. The Dollar Rewards program continues to be a key tool in the Duane Reade marketing mix.

"I believe there is great untapped potential for retailers across channels to more effectively use the shopper information generated by loyalty programs to build their business," Charboneau said. "Cartwheel has demonstrated the ability to optimize the investment retailers are making in these programs. I am excited to work with Cartwheel and look forward to sharing my experience with other retailers."

"We are thrilled to have Gary join us. At Cartwheel our objective is simple. We strive to measurably improve the business results that our retail clients can generate from their loyalty programs," said Larry Aronson, president and chief executive officer of Cartwheel. "Gary is a ‘results’ type guy who can help us see the market more effectively through the eyes of our clients, and insure we stay focused on the things that deliver improved business performance."
