Reuters: Apple in talks with health providers on utility of HealthKit app

8/12/2014

NEW YORK - According to a Reuters report published Tuesday, Apple is in talks with health providers including Mount Sinai, the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins around its "HealthKit" service.

"Apple has not divulged much specific detail on HealthKit, which is expected to be incorporated into the iPhone 6 come September," Reuters reported. "But Apple intends HealthKit to become a lynchpin in a broader push into mobile health care — a fertile field that rivals Google and Samsung also are exploring."

According to the report, HealthKit will be used as a health data aggregator — including blood pressure, pulse and weight — that healthcare professionals and caregivers can use to help track a patient's health.
