Rite Aid raises $5.1 million for Children's Miracle Network
CAMP HILL, Pa. Rite Aid raised more than $5.1 million in 2009 for Children's Miracle Network, an international, nonprofit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals, the chain announced Monday.
“Throughout our Children's Miracle Network campaign, our associates do a great job demonstrating their commitment to being caring neighbors, one of Rite Aid's core values," stated Mary Sammons, Rite Aid chairman and CEO. "Thanks to the hard work of our associates and the generosity of our customers, the money we've raised will make a difference in the lives of sick and injured children and their families."
“During one of the toughest fundraising years, Rite Aid increased its giving in 2009,” added Scott Burt, CMN’s president and CEO. “The dedication and commitment of Rite Aid associates, from top level executives to store associates, made it possible to raise an overwhelming $5.1 million for children’s hospitals.”
The money raised will fund medical care, research, education and outreach programs at 117 CMN hospitals in the communities Rite Aid serves.
The 2009 campaign marked Rite Aid’s 15th anniversary as a sponsor of CMN. Since 1994, Rite Aid associates customers have raised more than $40 million for pediatric hospitals through CMN.
