SC Johnson announces voluntary recall of insect repellent product

9/3/2014

RACINE, Wis. — SC Johnson last week announced a voluntary recall of its Off! Botanicals Insect Repellent in a clear plastic bottle, which was manufactured between December 2011 and April 2014.

The recall is due to a packaging issue that could impact some containers of the insect repellent, the company stated. The issue doesn't affect proper use of the product, but it could allow the sprayer of the product to be removed from the bottle more easily than intended. In the event that a consumer could remove the sprayer from the bottle and drink the contents, the liquid could be harmful if swallowed.

The company said it received no reports that consumers have removed the sprayer or of any injuries. But because the packaging doesn't meet SC Johnson's high standards, a product recall was initiated.

Consumers will be given eithera face-value product coupon or a refund. The recall applies only to Off! Botanicals Insect Repellent I (4-oz. spritz bottle) and not to Off! Botanicals Lotion, Off! Botanicals Towelettes or any other Off! product.
