Schnucks to open new store in Des Peres, Mo.
DES PERES, Mo. Family-owned supermarket chain Schnucks will close its current store in the town of Des Peres, Mo., and open a new one to replace it, the company announced Monday.
Schnucks will close the 46-year-old Des Peres store on Sept. 14, opening the new supermarket pharmacy the next morning. Schnucks chairman Scott Schnuck said in a statement that the 74,000 sq.-ft. store would be a flagship store with “atypical” products and services.
“Our customers will find the same quality grocery and pharmacy products and services, but because we were able to build this store from the ground up, we’ve been able to include additional amenities,” Schnuck said.
Those amenities will include a coffee shop with Wi-Fi, a walk-in beer cave cooler, wine display, cheese room, restaurant counter seating areas, environmental sustainability features and an in-store cooking school.
“The cooking school has been in development for more than two years,” Schnucks president Todd Schnuck said in a statement. “Its state-of-the-art kitchen and classroom is the perfect way to showcase the food expertise Schnucks has cultivated over the years.”
