Secular Coalition of New York launches campaign against nonmedical vaccine exemptions

8/11/2015

ALBANY, N.Y. — The Secular Coalition of New York’s Put Kids First campaign is bringing the national campaign against nonmedical vaccination exemptions to New York. According to the organization, the campaign is a push for legislation doing away with the state’s law allowing nonmedical exemptions for vaccinations.

The organization noted in a campaign announcement that groups like the American Medical Association and American College of Physicians, among others, have discussed the need to do away with religious and philosophical objections to vaccines as way of ensuring the public health.  It also cited a February Pew Research Poll in which 68% of all adults felt that children should be required to be vaccinated.

The New York campaign is one of 10 state-specific efforts organized by the Secular Coalition for America.
