Shopko opens new store in Iowa
GREEN BAY, Wis. Shopko has opened a new store in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the mass merchandising chain announced last week.
The new store features a round-track layout and signage to aid navigation and includes a pharmacy and eye-care center in the front. The company said the store would create 100 new jobs for the area and donated $2,500 to the Community Education Foundation.
“At Shopko, we understand corporate responsibility is essential to our business,” Shopko chairman and CEO Michael MacDonald said. “We recognize the importance of giving back to the communities where we live and work and to the neighborhoods that support us.”
The new store features the design scheme that won Shopko the 2008 Retail Store of the Year design award from Drug Store News' sister publication Chain Store Age.
