ShopRite offers consumers cash back for reusable bags

NEW YORK East Coast grocery chain ShopRite is giving customers a way to help the environment: reusable bags.

Under the Five Cents Back program, ShopRite customers will get 5 cents back for every non-disposable bag they use. ShopRite also gives back 2 cents for reusing paper and plastic bags. The chain began offering the Five Cents Back program in the middle of May and has offered the Two Cents Back program since 1991.

ShopRite operates 200 supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware.
