Stater Bros. donates turkeys to Southern California food banks
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. As part of its national More To Share hunger-fighting program, the producers of Honeysuckle White turkey products and Stater Bros. Markets announced Tuesday the donatation of 3,500 lbs. of turkey to five Southern California food banks to help feed the area's hungry during the holidays.
The donations have been made to the Second Harvest Food Bank serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, the Second Harvest Food Bank serving Orange County, the Community Action Partnership in San Bernardino County, the North County's Food Bank in San Diego County, and the San Diego Food Bank.
Ninety-nine percent of food banks recently surveyed by Feeding America reported a significant surge in local food relief demand, and this holiday season is expected to see near record demand for food support in America.
"I always tell my associates to do the right thing for the right reason," said Jack H. Brown, chairman and CEO, Stater Bros. Markets. "When people are hungry, especially during the holiday season, those of us who are able should do what we can to help. We're thankful that we can again work with the Honeysuckle White turkey More To Share program to provide turkeys to those in need."
