PURCHASE, N.Y. and QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop is reminding shoppers that it is not too late to get a flu shot.
"Flu season typically peaks in January and February, and many major insurance plans, including Medicare, cover the full cost of a flu shot. In addition to helping yourself by getting your annual flu shot, this year you'll also be helping a neighbor in need. For each flu shot Stop & Shop pharmacies administers by December 31, Unilever will donate three meals to Feeding America," said Brian Pavur, director of pharmacy for Stop & Shop.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends vaccination for all adults. Flu shots are still available at most Stop & Shop in-store pharmacy locations, including high-dose vaccine for seniors and the quadrivalent vaccine. No appointment or prescription is needed, and vaccinations are provided any time the pharmacy is open.
Stop & Shop also is keeping its pharmacies well stocked to handle flu-related prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
