Stop & Shop promotes health and wellness for kids in R.I.

QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop recently sponsored a "Healthy Kids Summit" in Pawtucket, R.I., with help from local community health experts, the company said.

The summit drew more than 300 local residents and customers and included the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket, Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island director of clinical pediatrics and pediatric education Marjorie Nasin, the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and Tony Thomas, infielder of the Pawtucket Red Sox, a minor league baseball team. The event included programs about childhood obesity and how kids can stay fit and eat healthy.

"Today's Healthy Kids Summit provided relevant information on nutrition, exercise and balanced lifestyles that will help families make better decisions.
