United Supermarkets CEO steps down
LUBBOCK, Texas The CEO of a Texas-based, family-owned grocery chain has stepped down, the company announced Tuesday.
United Supermarkets, which operates stores under United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United banners, said the board of advisors accepted the resignation of Dan Sanders. Sanders, who has been CEO for six years, will be replaced by Robert Taylor, the company's chief logistics officer, who will serve as interim CEO.
"[The board] gratefully acknowledging the fine work Dan has done," United co-presidents Gantt Bumstead and Matt Bumstead said.
Sanders became United's CEO in June 2004 after holding other executive positions with the company in advertising, sales/merchandising, marketing and human resources.
Before joining United, he was a principal in AdPlex and the founder of AdContent, two companies that provided advertising production and content management for Fortune 500 companies.
United has been in business for 94 years and is based in Lubbock, Texas.
