Vidal Sassoon Pro Series celebrates 50th anniversary of bob hairstyle
TORONTO — Vidal Sassoon Pro Series is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic bob hairstyle; the brand has launched the “Show Your Genius” Facebook contest.
In 1963, Vidal Sassoon’s the bob and five-point cut set new standards in hairdressing, igniting a movement in women worldwide to emulate the iconic look. The shape of the cut gave women the freedom to maintain a fashion-forward yet low-maintenance hairstyle, a key element responsible for its widespread adoption.
“As someone who trained at Vidal Sassoon, the bob is a very important haircut to me,” stated Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Fashion and celebrity hairstylist ambassador Ben Skervin, who trained at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. “It was the second haircut that I ever learned to do. The line had to be so sharp — it took quite a few months to master.”
Via its “Show Your Genius” Facebook contest, the hair care brand is inviting fans to share a “selfie” of their best hairstyle for a chance to win $1,000, a vintage accessory and a year’s supply of Vidal Sassoon Pro Series products. Fans can submit their best hairstyle from now until June 18, and then have the opportunity to vote on the top looks.
