Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada recipient of flu shot donation from Walgreens

9/26/2013

LAS VEGAS — Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada on Tuesday announced receipt of a donation of flu vaccines compliments of Walgreens.

“Although the need for compassionate health care is present all year-round, VMSN sees an exceptional need for patient assistance during flu season,” stated VMSN founder Florence Jameson. “Walgreens’ kind gesture is a phenomenal example of our community coming together to create a healthy and flourishing Nevada.”

VMSN, which provides health care and support for the working uninsured or unemployed residents of southern Nevada through volunteers, will be conducting two flu shot clinics to administer flu vaccines to its patients. The first was held Wednesday. An additional flu shot clinic will also be held on Oct. 4.

Only VMSN patients are eligible to receive the complimentary flu shots.

In 2012, VMSN saw more than 2,600 patients and managed more than 5,700 patient visits at its Paradise Park clinic. During that time, VMSN provided approximately $4 million in health care, using $1 million in donations.
