Wakefern lays out plans for acquired Shaw's stores
KEASBEY, N.J. Of the Connecticut-based Shaw's Supermarkets it acquired, Wakefern Food announced plans to change the stores to PriceRite and ShopRite banners.
The deal is expected to close in late March or early April. Financial details were not disclosed.
Once the acquisition is complete, 10 store locations will operate as ShopRite supermarkets and one store will become a PriceRite. There are currently 13 ShopRite stores and eight PriceRite stores throughout Connecticut.
The stores will be closed for renovation and remerchandising and most of the acquired locations will begin to reopen throughout the spring or summer. Pharmacy service will not be interrupted during the transition, according to Wakefern Food Corp.
