ALEXANDRIA, Va. Walgreens last week filed suit with the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia against Wegmans Food Markets, alleging trademark infringement.
Walgreens asserted that Wegmans began utilizing a “flying ‘W’” as part of its logo in late 2008, according to court documents.
Walgreens has asked the court to confirm the trademark for its “flying ‘W’” and script “Walgreens,” and that Wegmans discontinue its alleged infringement. In addition, Walgreens is asking that Wegmans forfeit all profits since introducing its logo, actual damages suffered by Walgreens, and treble and punitive damages “due to the flagrant and deliberate nature of such violations.”
