Walmart makes $250K donation to Tennessee wildfires

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart and the Walmart Foundation will provide $250,000 in support to help relief efforts for those affected by the Tennessee wildfires in Sevier County.


The wildfires have killed 14 people, injured an additional 175 people and damaged or destroyed more than 2,400 homes and businesses, according to media reports.


We are deeply saddened by these devastating fires and the catastrophic effect it is having on our associates and residents of Sevier County,” said Lee Siler, Walmart’s Sr. Manager for Global Disaster Response and Preparedness. “Since the initial notification of the fire, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have been fully committed to the relief efforts, donating water and sheltering supplies and we will continue to work with local organizations in offering them our full support.”


According to Walmart, it has donated more than $56 million in cash and in-kind donations in response to disaster events in the past decade.
