Washington Times: CVS Health's Larry Merlo lands seat at State of the Union Address

1/20/2015

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health’s president and CEO, Larry Merlo, has landed a prime seat at Tuesday’s State of the Union Address in recognition of the chain’s move last year to pull tobacco products from its shelves, The Washington Times reported.

During President Barack Obama’s speech late Tuesday, Merlo will be seated in the same box as First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, according to the article.

While the move to pull tobacco products from its stores was no doubt bold, many consumers, politicians and healthcare associations applauded CVS Health’s decision. At the time, many — including the First Lady Michelle Obama — took to Twitter to take part in the company’s social campaign — #OneGoodReason.
