Wegmans appoints nutritionist for Western N.Y. and Erie, Pa. stores
BUFFALO, N.Y. Wegmans Food Market last week named Allison Parker nutritionist for the company’s 13 stores in Western New York and Erie, Pa. She will be based at Wegmans’ Buffalo Division Office and will be responsible for facilitating the company’s “Eat Well Live Well” initiatives with customers and employees, as well as developing nutrition information and programming in-store and in the community.
“Allison’s depth of knowledge and passion for health and wellness make her a wonderful addition to our Wegmans team,” stated consumer affairs manager Ann McCarthy. “As our employees and customers learn more about the benefits that our ‘eat well live well’ message brings to their lives, Allison’s expertise will be invaluable.”
Parker holds a Masters degree in Nutrition Communications from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. A Wegmans scholarship recipient, she completed her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Food Science at Drexel University. Additionally, she served a dietetic internship with Cornell University.
Prior to joining Wegmans full-time, Parker worked for the company as a consultant/contributing writer for a variety of nutrition campaigns and publications. She has additional experience in the field with therecipebook.com, an online food interest Web site; The International Food Information Council in Washington; Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston; and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.
Parker is a member of the American Dietetics Association, the New York State Dietetic Association and the WNY Dietetic Association. She has been recognized at the state and national level for her many accomplishments, most recently with the Susan T. Borra Fellowship in Nutrition Communications by the ADA.
