Wegmans charity campaign raises $227,000

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. Wegmans Food Markets raised more than $227,000 in New Jersey during the 2007 annual Check Out Hunger initiative, The Times of Trenton reported Saturday.

The money raised between Sept. 30 and Dec. 15 represents a 9 percent increase above the 2006 campaign.

"We're most thankful to our customers and our employees for their generous donations to help make this year's Check Out Hunger program a great success in helping to combat hunger throughout New Jersey," stated Dave DeLaus, district manager of Wegmans Food Markets.
