Weis sees year-on-year Q2 sales increase
SUNBURY, Pa. Weis Markets today announced its second-quarter earnings. Sales increased 4.3 percent for the supermarket company to $603.4 million, compared with $578.8 million during the same period a year ago.
The company’s net income totaled $12.8 million compared with $18.2 million for the same period a year ago when it reported a $5.3 million pre-tax gain from the sale of two properties.
For the year to date, Weis’ sales increased 4.2 percent to $1.2 billion while store sales were up 4.5 percent. For the same period, net income totaled $21.9 million compared with $31.6 million in 2007.
