CLEVELAND —American Greetings’ new On Tap line of greeting cards takes interactive cards a step further. The cards combine a humorous greeting with a recorded message that’s activated when the card’s recipient taps the card. Bobble head characters, including a nun, cheerleader and President Barack Obama, are featured on the inside of cards, along with instructions to tap the card. The tap unleashes a song or funny punch line.
The new line has six designs and retails for $6.99 each. Despite a higher price point, consumers have been willing to trade up for cards that offer more bells and whistles, such as interactive features.
“We’ve always known that our consumers love greeting cards that surprise and delight, this year we are building on this knowledge with our On Tap collection,” said Carol Miller, executive director of new product concepts.
