MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Zipdrug on Wednesday was named as an inaugural 50+ Innovative Leader by AARP and MedCity News. The inaugural program recognizes entrepreneurs, companies and ideas behind innovative new products and services for Americans aged 50 and older.
"Zipdrug was created not only as a convenience tool for patients, but also to help reduce the problem of medication nonadherance," said Stu Libby, founder and CEO of Zipdrug. "Our ability to seamlessly work with health insurers assures that their members are receiving an effortless pharmacy experience, making it easier to take medication, and ultimately save money by finding the lowest copay, which can save a member up to $320 per year."
In late 2016, MedCity News and AARP issued a call for nominations for entrepreneurs, investors, companies and nonprofit collaborations. Determined by a reader vote, the winners include leaders and companies offering healthcare delivery, medication management and smart wearables. Zipdrug is a medication delivery platform that helps health plans manage medication adherence and cost.
"AARP works to empower people to choose how they live as they age," said Jeffrey Makowka, AARP's director of market innovation. "We are pleased to join MedCity News in showcasing entrepreneurs who are driving change and improvements in the healthcare industry for the more than 100 million Americans aged 50 and older. We congratulate the remarkable winners who have been recognized by their peers for their innovation leadership."
